Like many of you out there, I am also in the process of growing my hair, and making sure it’s healthy. I must say, that I have truly learned a lot when it comes to getting my hair to grow to my desired length, so, if you want to know how to make your hair grow longer and faster naturally, you’ve come to the right place:)

Healthy Natural Hair

There are many methods that you could use to grow your hair. On the previous article, I wrote in detail about some natural products which you could use to have a healthy, growing hair, and the reasons why they are “successful at their job”. I talked about eggs, onion juice, castor oil, apple cider vinegar, aloe vera, and shea butter. Now, I’m going to tell you how to treat your hair with these products.

Healthy Hair

It’s always good to have an idea of the amount of time you want to leave them in your hair for, and to also know the amount you should put on. We don’t want to ruin our hair in the process of trying to make it grow, do we?:) Another thing- if you eat eggs and let’s say you don’t have enough to eat and to treat your hair with at the same time, please, listen to your stomach first:) A happy belly equals a happy owner ready to care for their hair:)

Eggs

These are very rich in proteins, minerals and vitamins, which means that they would be excellent for your hair. They help to strengthen the follicles of your hair and prevent hair loss, which equates to you having a healthy, long hair. Eggs For Hair GrowthTHIS, is our goal:). The egg white has more proteins than the egg yolk, so it could be used separately. However, it is good to use the whole egg, so you don’t miss out on anything.

What you need

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp of olive oil (not required)
  • shampoo
  • leave-in conditioner

How often you should use it

  • Once a month. An excessive use of eggs could cause the hair to thin out, because it’s extremely rich in proteins.

Directions

1. Add the olive oil to the egg, in a bowl. The olive oil is added just to make your hair softer, so you don’t need to put it in if you don’t want to.

2. Put the mixture in your hair, and leave for about 20 minutes. DO NOT leave the mixture in your hair for more than 20 minutes. Doing this could cause your hair to be stripped of its moisture, and would make it too dry.

3. Rinse your hair with cold water, and then use a shampoo to wash it. If you just want to rinse it without using a shampoo, DO NOT use hot water. This would make your hair to smell like eggs. Now, if you were going to see that “special someone”, or you’re going for an important event, you wouldn’t want your hair to smell like eggs, would you?

4. The final step is to put the leave-in conditioner. At this point, your hair is a bit more healthy than how it was a couple of minutes ago:)

Onion juice

Onion juice has the wonderful job of treating hair loss, and also preventing it from happening. With the help of vitamins and minerals which are present in it, onion juice works wonders on your hair. In other words, it helps maintain the growth of your hair, since this is in fact, what we want. Now, some people might be allergic to onion juice, so it’s best to test it on a portion of your skin, just to make sure you’re not. Onions For Hair GrowthIf you are, you could just use other products. Onion juice is just one of the many magnificent products that would help you maintain your hair growth, so don’t feel sad if you can’t use it:)

What you need

  • A quarter cup of onion juice
  • 2 tbsp of water
  • 1 tbsp honey (not required)
  • shampoo

How often you should use it

  • Every day or every other day (in other words, as often as you can)

Directions

1. Add the water to the onion juice. This helps to dilute the onion juice a little, because it’s very strong. Just in case you don’t want the onion juice to be too concentrated on your hair, do this. If you also can’t stand the smell, you might want to add honey to it too. However, if you’re really tough and you don’t mind the stench that much, go for it.

2. Leave it in your hair for about 30 minutes to an hour, then wash with a shampoo. DO NOT leave it for more than one hour on your hair, because even though you may not be allergic to it, it could have a burning sensation, could cause your hair to itch, and it would also cause your hair to dry out.

Castor oil

Castor oil is amazing for growing your hair, and you know why? It has omega 6 and omega 9 fatty acids that kick start hair growth, and keep the moisture of your hair in check. It contains vitamin E as well, that repairs damaged hair, so that your hair looks all new and healthy. Castor Oil For Hair GrowthCastor oil is just one of those lovely products, which can be used to treat hair loss and help you with your journey to a long and healthy hair:)

What you need

  • 2 tbsp of castor oil (use more for thick hair if needed)
  • shampoo

How often you should use it

  • Once or twice a week

Directions

1. Divide your hair into sections, and apply the castor oil.

2. Massage the scalp, and leave the castor oil in your hair for about 2 hours. Now…let’s say you left this in your hair for like 2 weeks or so, what do you think could happen? Well, you may not have serious issues or any at all. However, there would be a lot of dust and dirt attracted to your hair, which could cause you to have an itchy scalp and maybe some allergic reactions as well.

3. Wash your hair with the shampoo, and voila! You’re done.

Apple cider vinegar

In all honesty…this tastes and smells terrible, even though it has many health benefits. So..If we were to look at the bright side of things, apple cider vinegar not only helps us health-wise, but it’s also really great for your hair. Apple Cider Vinegar For Hair GrowthAmazing, right? It helps clean your scalp, to get rid of anything that would prevent your hair from growing properly. Also, it improves blood circulation to carry all those nutrients that would feed your hair, and make it healthy:)

What you need

  • 3 tbsp of apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cups of water

How often to use it

  • Once a week

Directions

1. When you wash your hair with a shampoo and rinse it, add the water to the apple cider vinegar.

2. Apply the apple cider vinegar rinse, and let it sit for about 3 minutes. While you’re leaving it in for this period, the apple cider vinegar would help to condition your hair. However, you may not want to leave it in for too long, because some people may experience their hair being too dry and brittle.

3. Rinse your hair thoroughly with water.

Aloe vera

This is a very popular plant, and its gel-like substance has many wonderful benefits for the hair. It helps to clean the scalp, and it promotes the growth of your hair. Another thing-aloe vera is very efficient in helping hair grow, because it has the same nutrients that are contained in onion juice, and it does the same job that apple cider vinegar does. Aloe Vera For Hair GrowthReally, I find this utterly amazing. However, for this reason, it is advisable to test it on a part of your skin, just to make sure that you are not allergic to it. You can also mix aloe with any of the other products mentioned above:)

What you need

  • 3 tbsp of aloe vera gel
  • shampoo

How often you should use it

  • Once or twice a week

Directions

1. Apply the aloe vera gel on your hair, and massage your scalp. Let there also be a reasonable amount on the hair itself, and make sure it gets to the tips, from the roots.

2. Leave it on your hair for about 20 minutes, and then wash with a shampoo.

Shea butter

Now, shea butter doesn’t smell so good to some people, while to others, it smells perfectly fine. I really don’t like how it smells, but I LOVE what it does for your hair. It is rich in vitamins that help to treat hair loss, and they also make your hair thicker, giving it a healthy look. Although, for people who are allergic to nuts, they might want to test this on their skin, to make sure they’re not allergic to this as well. You can use shea butter as a deep hair conditioner, if you want. Shea Butter For Hair GrowthTo do this, you would want to melt it with olive oil or castor oil, and then apply it on your hair. However, if you want to use it alone, that’s fine too.

What you need

  • 1 tbsp of shea butter
  • shampoo

How often to use it

  • once a week

Directions

1. Melt the shea butter in the microwave for about 10 seconds.

2. Apply it on your hair, and massage your scalp with it. Leave it on for about 30 minutes.

3. Wash your hair with a shampoo

    • You can blend onions at home to get the juice, or you could use a juicer. To get rid of the smell, you would need to wash your hair thoroughly with a shampoo.
